Finland Dominates Opening Day at OlyBet Showdown Tallinn Spring Mix

The mixed games have arrived in full force for a week of hot poker action thanks to Olympic Park Casino hosting the inaugural OlyBet Showdown Tallinn Spring Mix from May 11-19.

The festival boasts 31 numbered events highlighted by the €555 PLO 4&5 Spring Mix Main Event on May 15-18.

Two players from Finland already found themselves in the winner’s circle on the opening day with Arto Parppei hoisting the trophy in Event #1: €250 PLO/PLO5 Deepstack Progressive Bounty while Tapio Aaltonen snagged some early hardware in Event #3: €150 NLH Crazy Pineapple.

The opening flight of the Event #2: €250 NLH Mystery Bounty also played down to an official final table with three of the seven remaining players also from Finland.

Check out the results from the opening day of the 2024 OlyBet Showdown Tallinn Spring Mix at Olympic Park Casino.

Arto Parppei Wins the €250 PLO/PLO5 Deepstack Progressive Bounty

Arto Parppei won his first-ever poker trophy in Estonia in just slightly over 6 hours of play after denying Norway’s Tobias Napel his fourth career victory at Olympic Park Casino.

Napel has shown mixed-game prowess in the past in Tallinn winning two 8-Game trophies in back-to-back years, while also winning a no-limit hold’em side event during last year’s inaugural WSOP Circuit Tallinn, which will return on July 18-27.

Meanwhile, Ukraine’s Taras Melnyk, Germany’s Sascha Manns, and Finland’s Juhana Konttinen also cashed in this event after Vitali Rakov was the first player to bubble an event this festival.

The event attracted 32 entries and awarded €6,778 in total prizes with €3,558 in the prize pool along with another €3,200 in progressive bounties.

Tapio Aaltonen Wins the €150 NLH Crazy Pineapple

Finland’s Tapio Aaltonen calls Tallinn his home and plays in every poker festival with his heart on his sleeve at Olympic Park Casino. He has compiled an impressive list of final table finishes but had no trophies to speak of leading into the festival.

That all changed on Saturday evening when Aaltonen defeated Estonia’s Erik Polluveer heads-up in Event #3: €150 NLH Crazy Pineapple en route to the title and the €942 top prize.

Israel’s Dan Michaeli also finished in the money with a third-place finish to claim a portion of the €1,872 prize pool generated by the tidy field of 15 entries.

Enea Subashi Leads €150 NLH Deepstack Mystery Bounty

The first multi-day event kicked off on Saturday with 61 entries entering the opening day of Event #2: €150 NLH Deepstack Mystery Bounty to create a €7,613 prize pool.

Just seven players survived the opening flight, each already in the money with two players hitting the rail at the unofficial final table in Kare Hallamaa and Estonia’s Hardi Karolin. While Karolin went home empty-handed, the same wasn’t the case for Hallamaa, who thanks to having more chips during the final Day 1 hand, collected a €153 min-cash.

The event boasts tremendous value, and it isn’t because of the €1,250 top prize. OlyBet is generously adding OlyBet Showdown Spring Mix tournament tickets in each of the mystery bounty envelopes to create tons of value for the final seven players.

Greece’s Enea Subashi leads the way with 484,000 in chips closely followed by Norway’s Tommy Brattskar (434,000). Finland’s Juhana Konttinen (361,000) and France’s Jimmy Dewerdt (250,000) will kick off the final day in the middle of the pack while Sami Pulliainen (168,000), Estonia’s Taaniel Jakobson (84,000), and Finland’s Joonas Laamanen (50,000) have some work cut out for themselves with the short stacks.
